How the process works
Six steps from application to first day of class
This is a closed process — all documentation must be submitted at the time of application. Bring everything you need on the day you apply.
Submit documents in person
PDX campus, Tues/Thurs
Receive your ranking letter
Score and placement by mail
Advance to the RFE list
Ready for employment
Seek employment
With approved training agents
Attend orientation
Sign apprentice agreement
Begin school

Eligibility
Am I eligible?
To apply, you must meet all three.
At least 18 years old
At the time of applicationHigh school diploma or GED
Minimum 2.0 GPA with official sealed transcriptsAlgebra with a C or better
Or a qualifying math test — see the announcement packet for options
2026 Application Schedule
Three ranking sessions per year
Applications are accepted in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:00am–3:30pm at our Portland Campus.

Notifications mailed by May 4
Session 2
MAY 4 – JUL 23
Notifications by Aug 10
Session 3
AUG 10 - OCT 29

How ranking works
Applications are scored using a point system based on the documentation you provide — including transcripts, work experience, trade school credits, and letters of reference. Higher scores mean a higher ranking. The full point breakdown can be viewed in the announcement packet.
scholarship for high school seniors
Scholarship applications are due May 4th.
military applicants
Military veterans should contact our office for service credit information.
PRE-APPRENTICESHIP GRADUATE/APPLICANTS
Pre-Apprenticeship graduates have the opportunity to apply for direct enrollment in the month of July.
